Pfizer, Time Warner, and Schering-Plough have the highest srtIndex scores to top the list of companies with positive news while Amazon.com and Nitromed lead the list of companies with negative news reports. Bristol- Myers Squibb has popped up with a high positive news sraIndex score. MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- In overseas trading, Asian markets rose today, as Japan's Nikkei was able to bring an end to its three-day losing streak. The market was spurred on by investors looking to cash in on some bargains and rising exporter shares. In its December economic report, the Japanese government remained upbeat about the economy. European drug stocks increased following Friday's judgment upholding the exclusivity of two PFE patents. While drug stocks posted gains, oil stocks put a bit of pressure on the market, resulting in mixed performance. Currently, eight of the foreign indices we track are in positive territory, with an average return of 0.222 percent. The January crude futures contract fell 3.22 percent on Friday. Meanwhile, futures in unleaded gas and heating oil each lost about three percent, and January natural gas slipped more than one percent. PUT/CALL ALERT ---------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- Equity option activity on the CBOE saw 619,101 put contracts traded on Friday compared to 1,153,668 call contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio climbed to 0.537, while the 21-day moving slipped to 0.569.
