Wal- Mart, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and American Eagle Outfitter have the highest srtIndex scores to top the list of companies with positive news while Overstock.com and Guidant lead the list of companies with negative news reports. JC Penney has popped up with a high positive news sraIndex score. MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- Trading is mixed this morning, with a number of markets still closed for the holidays. In Asia, the Nikkei finished the session down 0.9 percent on reports that consumer prices rose for the first time in two years. Japan's consumer price index (CPI), which excluded fresh food prices, rose 0.1 percent in November from a year earlier, marking the first rise since October 2003. The country?s central bank has said it will maintain its accommodative monetary policy until year-on-year changes in the nationwide core CPI stabilize at zero or move into positive territory. The Hong Kong Hang Seng was closed for the session. In Europe, the London FTSE 100 was also closed for the day. However, the French CAC 40 has added 0.4 percent and the German DAX has inched 0.5 percent higher. The February crude contract added 15 cents per barrel after lingering in negative territory for a majority of the day. The gain wasn't enough to turn around the poor performance for the week, as crude finished Friday one percent lower than the previous week. It appears that weather will be the main catalyst for moves in crude during the next few weeks. PUT/CALL ALERT ---------------------------------------------------- --------------------------- Equity option activity on the CBOE saw 235,090 put contracts traded on Friday compared to 457,805 call contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio dropped to 0.514, while the 21-day moving inched lower to 0.594.
