NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS----------------------------------------- So far this morning, DISH Network Corp., SYSCO Corporation, and McDonald's Corp. lead the list of companies with positive news, while Research In Motion, Rio Tinto plc, and Dynegy Inc. lead the list of companies with negative news. Liberty Media, Infosys Technologies, and Callaway Golf were upgraded this morning, while Citrix Systems, VMware, and CBS Corp. were downgraded. MARKET OVERVIEW--------------------------------------------------- Overseas trading is headed lower this morning, as three of the 10 foreign indices that we track are in positive territory. The cumulative average return on the collective stands at a loss of 0.15%. In Asia, a weaker yen and robust economic data boosted Japanese stocks, while mainland Chinese markets fell for a fourth straight session on continued speculation that Beijing will impose restrictions on property transactions. In European trading, shares declined for the first time in three sessions, with German auto giants Daimler and Volkswagen dragging after downgrades at separate brokerage firms. Crude futures once again took the road into the red on Friday, sent lower amid strength in the U.S. dollar. The greenback gained ground on the heels of an upbeat unemployment report, which escalated selling pressure on dollar-denominated commodities. PUT/CALL RATIO --------------------------------------------------- Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 2,232,432 call contracts traded on Friday, compared to 1,101,859 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio arrived at 0.49, while the 21-day moving average dropped to 0.62. SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS -------------------------------------- The S&P Depository Receipts (SPY) show support in the neighborhood of $99.40 and resistance around $102.00. For the Nasdaq 100 (QQQQ), support is near $39.45 and resistance is around $40.15.
