MARKET OVERVIEW--------------------------------------------------- Overseas trading looks strong this morning, as eight of the 10 foreign indices that we track are in positive territory. The cumulative average return on the collective stands at a gain of 1.19%. In Asian trading, regional indexes closed higher after the FOMC indicated that the worst was over for the U.S. economy, with resource stocks especially strong on higher metal and crude-oil prices. European shares rose sharply in early Thursday trading, with investors buying into the mining sector following stronger- than-forecast gross domestic product readings from France and Germany. Crude futures were buoyed Wednesday by the same bullish sentiment that lifted the equities market. Traders generally shrugged off the day's inventory data, which revealed that crude supplies jumped last week by 2.5 million barrels -- more than tripling the increase expected by analysts. PUT/CALL RATIO --------------------------------------------------- Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 1,520,786 call contracts traded on Wednesday, compared to 927,621 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio arrived at 0.61, while the 21-day moving average held at 0.61. SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS -------------------------------------- The S&P Depository Receipts (SPY) show support in the neighborhood of $99.45 and resistance around $102.00. For the Nasdaq 100 (QQQQ), support is near $39.05 and resistance is around $40.20.
