NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS----------------------------------------- So far this morning, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service (JTX), Boeing (BA), and Rambus (RMBS) lead the list of companies with positive news, while Texas Instruments (TXN) and Men's Wearhouse (MW) lead the list of companies with negative news. 3M (MMM), CA Inc. (CA), and Sprint Nextel (S) were upgraded this morning, while Kimberly-Clark (KMB), Accenture (ACN), and Kroger (KR) were downgraded. MARKET OVERVIEW--------------------------------------------------- Overseas trading is split down the middle this morning, as five of the 10 foreign indexes that we track are in positive territory. The cumulative average return on the collective stands at a loss of 0.43%. In Asia, most stocks ended lower. In Europe, hedge fund manager Man Group shares fell 3.8% in London after it said late Tuesday that the net asset value of the Man AHL Diversified Futures Fund fell 4.3% on the week and 6.1% on the year. Crude futures finished in the red for the fifth straight session yesterday ? marking oil's longest losing streak in five months ? as the greenback gained ground against most of its foreign rivals. Furthermore, commodities traders rushed the exits ahead of the government's weekly petroleum reports, slated for release later this morning. Analysts, on average, are expecting domestic crude supplies to increase by 600,000 barrels, with gasoline stockpiles forecast to jump by 1.5 million barrels. By the close, January- dated crude oil surrendered $1.31, or 1.77%, to settle at a two- month low of $72.62 per barrel. PUT/CALL RATIO --------------------------------------------------- Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) saw 1,424,220 call contracts traded on Tuesday, compared to 901,840 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio arrived at 0.63, while the 21-day moving average held at 0.61. SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS -------------------------------------- The S&P Depository Receipts (SPY) show support in the neighborhood of $108.10 and resistance around $112.40. For the Nasdaq 100 (QQQQ), support is near $43.10 and resistance is around $44.75.
