In Europe, shares climbed for the second straight session on Tuesday, helped by further gains for oil and gas producers. By the close, crude oil for January delivery gave up 89 cents, or 1.2%, to end at $72.47 per barrel. The newly front-month February contract ended on a deficit of 70 cents, or 0.94%, at $73.72 per barrel.
