NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS Tesla (TSLA), Blackberry (BBRY) and Nabors Industries (NBR) are headed higher this morning, while RealPage (RP), VIVIS (VVUS) and Home Depot (HD) are in decline. Nordson (NDSN) and Washington Real Estate Investment Trust (WRE) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Greenbrier Companies (GBX) and RealPage (RP) were downgraded. MARKET OVERVIEW Asian indices were widely varied overnight. The Shanghai SEC dropped 2.0% while the Nikkei 225 gained 1.4%. Chinese stocks are still hampered by concerns in the real estate sector that have resulted in banks reducing lending to property developers. Elsewhere in the region, the Mumbai Sensex and Taiwan TSEC each rose 0.2% while the Hong Kong Hang Seng dropped 0.3%. In Europe, the major stock markets are all in negative territory so far this morning. The FTSE 100 is down 1.0%, while the French CAC 40, German DAX, and Euronext 100 are each losing about 0.5% at last check. German GDP met expectations and business confidence rose, while French business confidence held steady. Energy futures are lower this morning, with West Texas Intermediate down 1.2% to $101.50. Heating oil and natural gas are both slightly lower, while natural gas fell sharply and lost 10% in Monday's session. Gold and other precious metals are all lower and the U.S. Dollar is weaker versus both the euro and the Yen. The Bitcoin global average cratered overnight as onetime leading exchange MtGox seems to going through its death throes. The crypto-currency lost more than $100 at one point this morning, which is roughly 20% of its value, but has bounced back to $500, which is still a sharp loss. PUT/CALL RATIO Yesterday, 1,446,605 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 794,231 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.55, while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.59. SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS The S&P 500 Depository Receipts (SPY) ETF has support at $182 and is above resistance. The Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) has support at $87 and is above resistance.
