NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS Best Buy (BBY), Darden Restaurants (DRI) and Sears (SHLD) are racing ahead this morning, while Catamaran (CTRX), BioScrip (BIOS) and Tyson Foods (TSN) are in reverse. First Solar (FSLR) Baidu.com (BIDU) and Workday (WDAY) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Cypress Semiconductor (CY) LightInTheBox (LITB) and Clean Harbors (CLH) were downgraded. MARKET OVERVIEW Asian stock markets were mostly higher overnight, led by the Hong Kong Hang Seng, which added 1.7%. the Taiwan TSEC gained 0.4% and the Shanghai SEC rose 0.3%, but the Nikkei 225 lost 0.3%. In Australia, Qantas Airways reported a quarterly loss and dropped 9%, pulling the Australian indices lower with it. In Europe, most indices are lower again so far this morning. The German DAX is falling 1.4%, the Swiss Market Index is down 1.0% and the FTSE 100 and CAC 40 each both off by 0.5%. The situation in Ukraine is weighing on European markets and both the Euro and the Russian ruble are weakening. Energy futures are all slightly lower so far this morning, with West Texas Intermediate at $102.47. Gold and platinum are fractionally higher, while silver and copper are a small amount in negative territory. The U.S. Dollar is weaker against the Yen but stronger versus the Euro. The Bitcoin global average has settled around $580 after swinging wildly higher and lower in the past week. PUT/CALL RATIO Yesterday, 1,313,950 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 755,043 put contracts. The single-session put/call was 0.57, while the 20-day moving average is now at 0.6. SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS The S&P 500 Depository Receipts (SPY) ETF has support at $182 and is above resistance. The Nasdaq 100 (QQQ) has support at $87.50 and is above resistance.
