NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far today, Family Dollar Stores, Gold Fields Limited, and OSI
Pharmaceuticals lead the list of companies with the most news
stories while Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. and Qwest Communications are
showing a spike in news. Mosaic Co., QUALCOMM Inc., and Sprint
Nextel Corp. have the highest srtIndex scores to top the list of
companies with positive news while Scholastic Corp. and Riverbed
Technology Inc. lead the list of companies with negative news
reports. Google has popped up with a high positive news sraIndex
score.
MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading is mixed so far this morning, with five of nine
reporting Asian/Pacific markets are down and all nine reporting
European markets are up. The India BSE 30 is down 3.09%, while the
China Shanghai Composite is up 2.94% the British FTSE 100 is up
0.58%, and the Austria ATX is up 0.53%.
Crude oil futures are advancing this morning in early trading, but
not by too much. Front month crude is up 0.70 or 0.7%, while
gasoline and heating oil are up just slightly. Natural gas is off
by a few cents. In metals there is not a lot of action yet, but
what movement there has been is in the negative. Gold, silver and
copper are all off by less than half a percent thus far.
