NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far today, Medtronic Inc., Boardwalk Pipeline, and Radioshack
Corp. lead the list of companies with the most news stories while
Matsushita Electric Ind. and Alberto-Culver Company are showing a
spike in news. Humana, Kaydon Corp., and Verizon have the highest
srtIndex scores to top the list of companies with positive news
while Tyson Foods and Continental Airlines lead the list of
companies with negative news reports. BE Aerospace Inc. has popped
up with a high positive news sraIndex score.
MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading is looking pretty good this morning, with seven of
nine reporting Asian/Pacific markets up plus all nine reporting
European markets up. The Taiwan Weighted Index is up 1.47%, the
France CAC 40 is up 0.86%, and the Austria ATX is up 1.25%, while
the Philippines PSE Composite is down 1.40%.
Crude oil futures peaked over the weekend almost touching $120, at
$199.93. So far this morning, the front month contract is trading
at $119.16, up 0.64. Natural gas is also higher, while heating oil
and gasoline are relatively flat. In metals, gold, silver, copper,
and platinum are all moderately higher, by less than 1%.
