NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far today, Hewlett-Packard, LM Ericsson, and Abbott Laboratories
lead the list of companies with the most news stories while Akeena
Solar and Biovail Corporation are showing a spike in news. Steel
Dynamics, Take-Two Interactive Software, and Herbalife have the
highest srtIndex scores to top the list of companies with positive
news while ISIS Pharmaceuticals and CBRE Realty Finance lead the
list of companies with negative news reports. Boston Beer Co. has
popped up with a high positive news sraIndex score.
MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading isn't looking too hot, with eight of nine
reporting Asian/Pacific markets down and all nine reporting
European markets down. The NZX 50 Index is up 0.82%, while the
Japan Nikkei is down 3.33%, the France CAC 40 is down 2.33%, and
the British FTSE 100 is down 1.77%.
Oil futures are still rising to record levels, this morning up 0.43
from yesterday's close and currently above $110. Other energy
interests are relatively flat so far. In metals, we are seeing a
surge higher, with gold up 17.00 or almost 2% and silver higher by
almost 4%. Copper and platinum are also showing gains.
