NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far today, Network Appliance Inc., Bank of New York Mellon
Corporation, and Level 3 Communications lead the list of companies
with the most news stories while Origin Agritech Ltd. and Silver
Standard Resources Inc. are showing a spike in news. Sybase Inc.,
MBIA Inc., and TriQuint Semiconductor have the highest srtIndex
scores to top the list of companies with positive news while Six
Flags Inc. and Procter & Gamble lead the list of companies with
negative news reports. McDonalds has popped up with a high positive
news sraIndex score.
MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading is negative this morning, as eight of nine
reporting Asian/Pacific markets are down and six of nine reporting
European markets are down. The Japan Nikkei is down 1.96% and the
France CAC 40 is down 0.14%, while the Hang Seng Index is up 0.91%
and the Vienna ATX Index is up 0.56%.
Crude futures are slightly lower right now, down 0.60 or about 0.5%
to 104.54. Other energy interests are also lower including heading
oil, natural gas and gasoline.
Gold is off by less than 1% as well, down 7.90 to 966.30. Silver,
platinum and palladium are also all sliding lower, but copper is
really tumbling, down 11.55 to 380.60 or 3.0%.
