NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far today, AIG, Brillian Corp., and Dean Foods lead the list of
companies with the most news stories while Adolor Corporation and
Crosstex Energy GP are showing a spike in news. Apple, Calpine
Corporation, and Southern Union Co. have the highest srtIndex
scores to top the list of companies with positive news while
Sepracor Inc. and Audible Inc. lead the list of companies with
negative news reports. Microsoft has popped up with a high positive
news sraIndex score.
MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Not much is going right overseas this morning as six of nine
reporting Asian/Pacific markets are down and all nine reporting
European markets are down. The Japan Nikkei is down 2.32%, the
German DAX is down 1.64%, and the Madrid General is down 1.01%,
while the China Shanghai Composite is up 1.14%.
Crude oil touched a high of $103, but as of this morning has com e
down from that level as well as yesterday's close. Front month
crude is trading at 102.17, down 0.42 (0.4%). Other energy
interests that are also down including heating oil and gasoline,
while natural gas is higher by less than a penny.
Most metals are unremarkable, with the only action of note being
silver, which is lower by $23 or 1.3%. Gold, copper, and platinum
are mixed but all relatively flat from yesterday's closing levels.
