NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far this morning, J.C. Penney (JCP), Intuit (INTU), and Fuel
Systems Solutions (FSYS) lead the list of companies with positive
news, while First Solar (FSLR), Dell (DELL), and Apollo Group
(APOL) lead the list of companies with negative news. Public
Storage (PSA), Adobe Systems (ADBE), and Liz Claiborne (LIZ) were
upgraded this morning, while Accenture (ACN), Pioneer Natural
Resources (PXD), and Barnes Group (B) received downgrades.

MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading is in rather poor shape this morning, as none of
the 10 foreign indexes that we track are in positive territory.
The cumulative average return on the collective stands at a loss of
0.88%. In Asia, stocks retreated, with banks leading the way
following the Fed's move to lift its discount rate. Turning to
Europe, stocks snap a four-day winning streak, with banks among the
worst performers.

The U.S. dollar received a boost this morning, as the Federal
Reserve lifted its discount rate to 0.75% in a move to get banks to
borrow from the private sector. The U.S. Dollar Index has spiked
nearly 1% to 81.16 in pre-market activity, a move that has put
considerable pressure on commodities. Specifically, crude futures
had pulled back more than 1% to 78.39 per barrel, while gold
futures have dropped $9.30 to $1,109.40 in London trading.

PUT/CALL RATIO ---------------------------------------------------
Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)
saw 1,502,631 call contracts traded on Thursday, compared to
1,017,097 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call
ratio arrived at 0.68, while the 21-day moving average held at
0.68.

SUPPORT & RESISTANCE LEVELS --------------------------------------
The S&P Depository Receipts (SPY) show support in the neighborhood
of $106.10 and resistance around $115.10. For the Nasdaq 100
(QQQQ), support is near $42.75 and resistance is around $44.90.
