NEWS LEADERS AND LAGGARDS-----------------------------------------
So far this morning, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Hormel Foods (HRL), and
Barrick Gold (ABX) lead the list of companies with positive news,
while Wal-Mart (WMT), Daimler (DAI), and O'Reilly Automotive (ORLY)
lead the list of companies with negative news. Deere (DE), Winn-
Dixie (WINN), and American Eagle (AEO) were upgraded this morning,

MARKET OVERVIEW---------------------------------------------------
Overseas trading is mixed this morning, as only six of the 10
foreign indexes that we track are in positive territory. The
cumulative average return on the collective stands at a gain of
0.03%. In Asia, stock markets were range-bound despite the modest
gains logged on Wall Street overnight. Kubota, a maker of farm
equipment, rose 1.8% after Deere & Co posted results that beat
expectations and raised its outlook for the year ahead. Meanwhile,
trading has edged higher in Europe this morning, despite a pullback
in the banking sector following disappointing quarterly results
from Societe Generale.

Crude futures remain at the forefront of investors' minds this
morning, as traders prepare for the release of weekly U.S.
petroleum stockpiles. According to a Dow Jones survey, analysts,
on average, are expecting domestic stockpiles to increase by 1.8
million barrels in the week ended Feb. 12, with gasoline supplies
projected to jump by 1.5 million barrels. Heading into the open,
March crude futures are down 0.86% at $77.06 per barrel.
Meanwhile, gold futures remain weak this morning, falling $13.40 to
$1,106.70 an ounce, despite a prediction by the World Gold Council
that Western demand for the malleable metal should be "well
underpinned" in 2010.

PUT/CALL RATIO ---------------------------------------------------
Equity option activity on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)
saw 1,459,436 call contracts traded on Wednesday, compared to
892,254 put contracts. The resultant single-session put/call ratio
arrived at 0.61, while the 21-day moving average held at 0.68.
